This project implements an open data platform for the storage, management and distribution of digital content from projects of tourist and cultural interest of the Municipality of Heraklion. The project includes a specialized application for smart mobile devices as well as availability through programmatic interfaces (API), in order to provide easy access to citizens and visitors of the Municipality, as well as entities that contribute to the promotion of the cultural and tourist product of the region
The main objective of the Project is not a "simple open database " but the creation, under a robust framework of appropriate licensing, of a complex and unified service for the wide dissemination of the rich high-resolution tourist and cultural digital content available to the Municipality of Heraklion, which is currently not available or easily accessible to citizens, visitors to the city and local entrepreneurs
