Great Distinctions again this year for the Institute of Computer Science and the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas at the Healthcare Business Awards 2023, the awards-institution that reward Excellence in Innovation, Health, Digital Technologies and Investments.
The Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) was once again awarded the Top Research Institution award in the category "Top University - Research Center - Institution".
Upon receiving the award, Mr. Katehakis, Head of the Center for eHealth Applications and Services of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), stated: "FORTH's awards are related to only some of the achievements that the Institute of Computer Science has implemented over the past 12 months, but also to collaborations that have produced a significant impact on collaborating organizations such as the Dafni and Dromokaiteio PSNA. the Pancretan Health Association but also the University of Crete, the Region of Crete, as well as the 7th RES, clinical centers and businesses in Greece and abroad. We are proud of our partners, but also of the momentum that the health innovation ecosystem has gained in our country." while he also made special reference to the first European Digital Innovation Hub of our country with the distinctive name smartHEALTH, which has started operating from 01.01.2023 under the coordination of FORTH-ICS.
Regarding this great distinction, the Director of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, Professor Dimitrios Plexousakis, stated: "We are particularly proud of the distinctions that the Institute of Computer Science won this year in the scientific and technological field of digital health. Our goal is to conduct basic and applied research with a societal impact, as well as to translate mature research results into new products and services that contribute to improving quality of life."
In total, the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH and its collaborators won six awards:
was awarded to the Center for eHealth Applications and Services of FORTH-ICS for the application package Integrated Care Solutions: Automation of mass charges of chronic patients for submitting claims to insurance funds at the psychiatric hospitals of Dafni and Dromokaitio.
The award was received by the Head of the Center for eHealth Applications and Services, FORTH-ICS, Mr. Dimitrios Katehakis and the Head of the Technical Support Department of the Center Mrs. Maria Mari with the members of her team Mrs. Eugenia Zali and Mr. Elias Panagopoulos, along with Mr. Konstantinos Douros, Deputy Director of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica (Dafni) and Mrs. Giannoula Christodoulou, Head of the Department of Informatics of Dromokaitio Hospital.
Was awarded to the Computational Biomedicine Laboratory (CBML) of FORTH-ICS for the program Personalized risk analysis using machine learning to improve the psychological resilience of women undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The GOLD award was received by Mr. George Manikis, Collaborating Researcher at the Computational Biomedicine Laboratory (CBML), while the PLATINUM award was received by Mr. George Manikis, Dr. Angelina Kouroubali, Collaborating Researcher, FORTH-ICS Coordinator of the Ecosystem Reference Center of the Region of Crete for Active and Healthy Aging and Mr. Dimitrios Katehakis, Head of the Center for eHealth Applications and Services, FORTH-ICS.
was awarded to the Hybrid Molecular Imaging Techniques Unit (HMIU) of FORTH-ICS
The award was received by Dr. George Papadakis, Principal Investigator and Scientific Coordinator of the Hybrid Molecular Imaging Techniques Unit (HMIU), FORTH-ICS
was awarded to the Institute of Computer Science - Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas for the program Ecosystem integration for the creation of the 4th Star Reference Center of the Region of Crete for active and healthy aging.
The award was received by Dr. Angelina Kouroubali, Collaborating Researcher, FORTH-ICS, Coordinator of the Ecosystem Reference Center of the Region of Crete for Active and Healthy Aging, Dr. Antonios Papadakis, Hygienist, Public Health Supervisor of the Region of Crete, Mr. Nektarios Papavasiliou, Governor of the 7th Health Region of Crete and Mr. Dimitrios Katehakis, Head of the Center for eHealth Applications and Services, FORTH-ICS.
was awared to the Laboratory of Rheumatology - Clinical Immunology of the Medical School of the University of Crete for the project Registry of Patients with Chronic Autoimmune Diseases of the Rheumatology Clinic of the University of Crete, which is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas.
