The Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (ICS-FORTH) participated with great success in the Health IT Conference 2019, "Building the National Digital Strategy for Health". The two-day event took place at the Evgenidio Foundation Amphitheater, Palaio Faliro, on the 16th and 17th of April, 2019.
More specifically:
Mr. Dimitrios G. Katehakis, Head of the Center for eHealth Applications and Services of ICS-FORTH, participated in the panel on the Ministry of Health proposal for a National Framework for Interoperability in Health. In his presentation, under the title: "Development Potential from the Application of Interoperability", he explained why the adoption of its basic principles is more important than any technology choice in order to accelerate the digital transformation in the healthcare domain.
Dr. Vangelis Sakkalis, Principal Researcher of ICS-FORTH, presented European approaches and perspectives in the field of healthcare cybersecurity, emphasizing the anthropocentric holistic approach of the European PANACEA project (https://panacearesearch.eu). The title of his presentation was "Cybersecurity: A European Challenge in Healthcare".
Dr. Angelina Kouroubali, a Collaborating Researcher of ICS-FORTH, presented together with the e-Government Center for Social Security Services (IDIKA), the study on the National Base Registry of Medicinal Products (EKFO) prepared by ICS-FORTH on behalf of the Ministry of Health. The title of her presentation was "Development Value of the National Base Registry of Medicinal Products (EKFO)". Several, similar, international best practices were presented, while the need to comply with the new European interoperability framework and the value of good governance were emphasized.
Finally Dimitrios Katehakis participated in the workshop on “International Health Interoperability Standards”, where he presented the “European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format EHRxF (Commission Recommendation on a European Electronic Health Record exchange format C(2019)800 of 6 February 2019)”. The proposed format gives the opportunity for the citizens to access and share health data with healthcare professionals in the European Union.
