Short CV
Stefanos Gkikas received his degree in Applied Informatics from the Technological Educational Institute of Crete – Department of Informatics Engineering in 2018 and continued his postgraduate studies in Informatics Engineering, as well as in Computer Vision & Robotics, obtaining two master’s degrees from the Hellenic Mediterranean University and the Université de Bourgogne, respectively, in 2019 and 2020. In 2025, he received his doctoral degree from the Hellenic Mediterranean University, in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focused on the field of Affective Computing and Artificial Intelligence, with the topic “A Pain Assessment Framework based on multimodal data and Deep Machine Learning methods”. During his doctoral dissertation, he worked on the analysis of videos and biosignals. Since 2021, he has been collaborating with the Computational BioMedicine Laboratory (CBML) of the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH, as well as with the Laboratory of Biomedical Informatics & eHealth Services (BMI) at the Hellenic Mediterranean University. Additionally, he has served as a teaching assistant in courses on Biomedical Informatics, focusing on introducing fundamental principles of machine learning techniques and image processing in biomedical data.
