In the context of the 38th meeting of the European Network of Computer Emergency Response Teams, which was held in Lisbon, Portugal on 28-30 January 2013, the Computer Emergency Response Team of FORTH (FORTHcert) was awarded the TERENA Trusted Introducer certification.
FORTH, through its department FORTHcert, becomes the first Greek and the seventh European CERT holding this certification, among 96 European CERTs listed or accredited by TERENA TI. Computer Emergency Response Teams are the most effective instruments for the protection of cyber space and of critical information infrastructures. TERENA TI certification is the highest distinction for CERTs based in Europe and certifies that its holder implements in an optimum manner the Security Incident Management Maturity model SIM3 in the domains of organization, human resources, processes and tools.
Beyond the international recognition of high level of effectiveness in security incident response, this certification of FORTH improves the national indicators of Greece in the Digital Agenda for Europe in the area of Trust and Security and upgrades the international role of Greece in the area of cyber security.
FORTHcert is a department of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) seven senior scientists and engineers in networks and communications security, coordinated by Dr. Ioannis Askoxylakis.
