The paper entitled "A Production Rule-Based Framework for Causal and Epistemic Reasoning", presented by researchers of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), received the Best Paper Award at the 6th International Symposium on Rules (RuleML'12, Montpellier, France, August 2012).
The paper was also presented at the AAAI 2012 (Toronto, Canada, July 2012) special session devoted to the best papers from conferences in the broader Artificial Intelligence area.
The research results presented in the paper have been produced in the context of research conducted at the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH in the area of Knowledge Systems. This work contributes to the Ambient Intelligence Programme of FORTH-ICS by proposing methods for the empowerment of intelligent agents with epistemic and causal reasoning capabilities.
The research team members were Dr. Theodore Patkos (currently a post-doctoral researcher at Université Paris-Est Créteil) and Professor Dimitris Plexousakis.
