The Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (ICS-FORTH) is pleased to announce that Ms. Despina-Ekaterini Argiropoulos, a PhD student at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete and a research assistant at the Computer Vision and Robotics Laboratory (CVRL) of ICS-FORTH, has been selected as one of the three finalists for the “Outstanding Women in Robotics & Automation (WiRA) Student Paper Award” as part of the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2025, by the IEEE-RAS Women in Engineering (WIE) Committee.
This distinction pertains to the scientific paper entitled: “Optimal Torque Distribution via Dynamic Adaptation for Quadrupedal Locomotion on Slippery Terrains”, co-authored by: Despina-Ekaterini Argiropoulos, Michael Maravgakis, Changda Tian, Dimitrios Papageorgiou, and Panos Trahanias.
The paper was presented at ICRA 2025, the premier international conference in the field of robotics, which attracted over 7,000 participants from around the world.
This recognition highlights the innovation and excellence of Ms. Argiropoulos' research work and that of the co-authors of the paper, as well as their contribution to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of robotics and automation.
