Best paper award in top conference of the parallel programming field goes to members of the Computer Architecture and VLSI lab (CARV) of the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH.
The Institute of Computer Science of FORTH congratulates Prof. Panagiota Fatourou, Dr. Nikolaos Kallimanis and Dr. Eleftherios Kosmas for their research paper entitled “The Performance Power of Software Combining in Persistence” which won best paper award at the “27th ACM SIGPLAN Annual Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel Programming” (ACM PPoPP 2022), top conference in the research field of parallel programming.
The paper presents a collection of fundamental algorithms and data structures for concurrent settings with emerging memory technology, such as Non-Volatile Main Memory (NVMM). The paper makes a significant step towards addressing the question “How does computation change in the NVM era and what will the impact of the persistent memory revolution be on the way we compute?”.
