Datacenter networks interconnect server and storage devices, allowing them to collectively process massive amounts of data. In this talk, I will describe the industry's trend towards flattened datacenter networks and I will present some of the solutions that we have been working on in IBM.
Finally, I will also present some earlier results on all-optical datacenter networks.
Nikolaos Chrysos received his Ph.D. degree from University of Crete under the supervision of Prof. Manolis Katevenis. He received an IBM Ph.D.
Fellowship in years 2004 and 2005. Nikos is currently with IBM Research -- Zurich, working on datacenter networks. He is also collaborating with IBM's System and Technology Group (STG) on the design of high-performance datacenter fabrics.
