Abstract: We will sketch the origin of Web Service technology and introduce the concept of the service bus. The role of the service bus as virtualization technology will become clear. Features from autonomic computing will be shown to provide the basis for dynamic IT. Putting these things together, the cloud becomes real. Its impact on IT as well as business in general will be described. The role of business processes in the resulting environment will be discussed.
