George T. Stamatiou is a postdoctoral researcher with the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Ioannina. During his doctoral research, he worked on Disorder and Topology in Quantum Systems and Many-Body Localization using both theoretical and computational high-performance computing (HPC) techniques based on large-scale parallel simulations. His current research interests span the areas of Feedback Control and Optimization in Computer Systems, Quantum Computing and Scientific Computing / HPC. In recent years, he has also been addressing challenges at the intersection of IoT, Machine Learning and Smart Cities.

Participation in Research Projects

• The STREAMSTORE project (2020-2023) supports highly elastic, scalable, and fault-tolerant stateful stream-processing systems, through the evolution of the elasticity, predictability, and availability of scalable data store technology beyond the state of the art.
• The SmartCityBus project (2020-2023) developed a public transport management platform in order to dynamically and efficiently determine bus routes and to schedule the bus fleet for better serving of the passengers by optimally using the available resources.
• The ProxiTour project (2018-2021) developed a smart IoT-driven personalized touring platform for indoor and outdoor cultural spaces. The poster of this project can be downloaded from here.
• The DISTOP2D project (2018-2019) studied quantum matter and many-body interactions in the presence of disorder by creating large-N matrix diagonalization codes for tight-binding lattice Hamiltonians using national HPC ARIS infrastructure.
