Development and operation of an elastic, secure, trusted, all-in-one, multi-tenant service execution and NetApps development environment based on an open cloud-based architecture and APIs, for enabling the fast prototyping, testing and validation of novel 5G media services and NetApps, thus reducing the entry barrier to 3rd party media application testers (from SMEs, service providers, researchers, etc.).
5GMediaHUB is expected to contribute to European Union’s vision of becoming a world leader in 5G technologies. It envisages to accomplish this by developing the 5GMediaHUB Experimentation Facility, an elastic, secure, trusted, all-in-one, multitenant service execution and Network Applications (NetApps) development environment based on an open cloud-based architecture and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). In order to implement this, a testing and validation system will be developed and integrated with two existing well-established 5G testbeds, located in Barcelona and Oslo. With the creation of the 5GMediaHUB Experimentation Facility 3rd party media application developers and experimenters will be offered the opportunity to test and validate their 5G services and NetApps. This will reduce the time to market for SMEs in the media and telecommunications industry, thus making them competitive on a global level.
For the verification of the optimal performance of the 5GMediaHUB Experimentation Facility three use cases will be demonstrated, each consisting of two scenarios. The use cases include i) immersive Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Extended Reality (XR) applications, ii) smart media production, and iii) smart media content distribution.
