We seek one (1) recent graduate Engineer in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project AERO. To ensure the successful integration of the EU processor into the cloud computing ecosystem and strengthen even more EU data sovereignty, it is necessary to develop the software support at the same pace with the hardware development. The harmonic relationship of the developed software and hardware is of paramount importance in order to establish an EU cloud platform able to compete with the mainstream solutions which are currently delivered by US companies. AERO aims to upbring and optimize an open-source software ecosystem that encompasses a wide range of software components ranging from operating systems to compilers, runtimes, system software and auxiliary software deployment services for cloud computing. The AERO software stack combines the aforementioned software components with novel software and hardware interfaces as a means to seamlessly exploit the heterogeneity aspects of the EU processor with regards to high performance, energy efficiency, and security. The ultimate objective of AERO is to facilitate easy migration of existing cloud customers to a cloud infrastructure that harnesses the capabilities of the EU processor. To showcase early adoption and the potential business value, the developed software and hardware technologies will be piloted by use cases representative of important EU industrial domains, such as automotive and space exploration.

We seek one (1) a Post-Doctoral Researcher for our team. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EuroHPC JU-funded project NET4EXA. The NET4EXA project aims to create an advanced interconnect, which will scale to hundreds of thousands of computing nodes and will support modern HPC systems that are designed for massive AI tasks, such as the training of Large Language Models. The interconnect forms the backbone of such systems, and their overall performance is intimately tied to the scalability of the network and its tight coupling with the high-end compute elements.

] Call for expression of interest for one (1) Ph.D. student fellowship position "Blind Source Separation and Radio Imaging"
Radio-astronomy is entering the golden age, with new very sensitive instruments such as LOFAR, LWA and SKA). This allows us to reinvestigate the radio emission from ground. At these frequencies, both the close and distant universe can be studied. Radio instruments require however to reconstruct first images from a subset of Fourier components. Very nice progress have been made in the recent years in this domain, thanks to recent breakthrough in applied mathematics such compressed sensing theories or Deep learning. These tools presents however serious limitations because they consider only mono-canal data set. The goal of this project is to build a multichannel-data reconstruction, using both the deep learning concept and advanced component separation techniques. Within this project, we seek one PhD student who will develop novel data-driven approaches for the robust reconstruction of radio maps at different frequencies, which will offer uncertainty quantification, as well as the extension of these methods to the sphere. Emphasis will be given to the analysis of large-scale datasets such those that will be acquired with Square Kilometre Array Telescope (SKA). The doctoral student will be located at the premises of FORTH with a strong collaboration with the CosmoStat Laboratory at CEA Saclay.

Investigating how important biological problems can be addressed through advanced signal and image processing techniques is a significant challenge in Data Science. The research in this project will span multivariate time series analysis, graph networks, and machine/deep learning, complemented by expertise in natural language processing and signal processing. We will be integrating these techniques cohesively to comprehensively understand complex biological systems.

We seek a postdoctoral researcher, holding a PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with background in European and/or National RTD Projects, to assist in the project activities, in particular for the Investigation of efficient methods for discovering and accessing linked data resources. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project. Craeft is coordinated by FORTH-ICS. The project aims to deepen our understanding of making activities that include “care, judgement, and dexterity” standing on Anthropology, Knowledge Representation, Cognitive Science, Art History, Advanced Digitisation, Audiovisual & Haptic Immersivity, and Computational Intelligence to cover the multifaceted expression of crafts as living and developing heritage, as a sustainable source of income, and as the expression of the mind through “imagery, technology, and sedimented knowledge”. A generative approach will prove sufficiency for digital conservation, reenactable preservation, and scaling of approach for the full range of materials and techniques. Craeft will catalyse craft education and training with intuitive digital aids, telecommunications, craft-specific simulators, advanced immersivity, and high-end digitisation, to widen access, economise learning, increase exercisability, and relax remoteness constraints in craft learning. The integration of haptics intelligence haptics in digital design connects tacit knowledge in computer-aided craft-specific design tools. Workflow simulation will support experimental archaeology for the recovery of lost techniques. The analytic workflow analysis leads to digital fabrication opportunities for menial tasks, material savings and reuse, and reduction of energy consumption.
