Description
The CARV laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), is seeking applicants for postdoctoral positions in scalable compute and storage systems. This area is currently under significant change due to developments in underlying technologies that open exciting possibilities.
The ideal candidates would have a documented record in scalable and distributed computer systems, parallelism and concurrency, data serving systems and middleware, with a strong publication record, and experience in developing systems software (e.g. OS kernel programming, device drivers, network protocols, distributed middleware, or firmware). Of particular interest are candidates that have background or interests in the area of storage systems.
Candidates will lead specific tasks in the context of EU-funded research projects. They will design and lead the implementation of new systems and prototypes demonstrating new ideas on how future storage systems should be designed and dimensioned. Candidates will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students.
Required skills:
Documented record in scalable and distributed computer systems, parallelism and concurrency. Ability to design and build systems software (kernel modules, firmware) prototypes that demonstrate new ideas.
Desired Skills:
Experience in some of storage architectures, filesystems, key-value stores and data-serving systems, storage device protocols, NAND-Flash and NVM, interconnection networks, network interface architectures, communication protocols, high-level communication abstractions, scalable distributed middleware.
Education:
A Ph.D in computer science, computer engineering, or related field is required.
