[ICS-2312] Call for expression of interest for one (1) BSc holder in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
We seek one experienced member for our team, with a BSc degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project “Craft Understanding, Education, Training, and Preservation for Posterity and Prosperity” (Craeft), funded under Horizon EUROPE, HORIZON-CL2-2021-HERITAGE-01 (RIA). Craeft is coordinated by FORTH-ICS. The project aims to deepen our understanding of making activities that include care, judgement, and dexterity standing on Anthropology, Knowledge Representation, Cognitive Science, Art History, Advanced Digitisation, Audiovisual & Haptic Immersivity, and Computational Intelligence to cover the multifaceted expression of crafts as living and developing heritage, as a sustainable source of income, and as the expression of the mind through imagery, technology, and sedimented knowledge. A generative approach will prove sufficiency for digital conservation, reenactable preservation, and scaling of approach for the full range of materials and techniques. Craeft will catalyse craft education and training with intuitive digital aids, telecommunications, craft-specific simulators, advanced immersivity, and high-end digitisation, to widen access, economise learning, increase exercisability, and relax remoteness constraints in craft learning. The integration of haptics intelligence haptics in digital design connects tacit knowledge in computer-aided craft-specific design tools. Workflow simulation will support experimental archaeology for the recovery of lost techniques. The analytic workflow analysis leads to digital fabrication opportunities for menial tasks, material savings and reuse, and reduction of energy consumption. Digital dimensions attached to individual works of craft will enable certification and attachment of digital content, but also enable reputation and community building, supported by a Community Portal for professionals and the public that connects to the New Media, hosts heterogeneous craft portfolios, and registers practitioner credentials. The efficacy of the approach will be piloted in eight representative craft instances with the cross-cutting objectives of Craft Education & Training, Design, Valorisation, and Community services across the range of materials.

[ICS-2091] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position of student enrolled to University MSc Program, in the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)
We seek one (1) student enrolled to a University MSc Program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project dAIEdge. The dAIEDGE project aims to reinforce the research and innovation value chains to accelerate the digital and green transitions through advanced edge AI technologies, applications, and innovations, building on Europe's existing assets and industrial strengths. The key aim is to support and ensure rapid development, market uptake and open strategic sovereignty for Europe in the critical technologies for distributed edge AI (hardware, software, frameworks, tools). The ultimate goal for the dAIEDGE is to support Europe to become a global centre of excellence with unique human-centred edge AI competence addressing the social and economic challenges and the needs of the citizens and society.

[ICS-2089] Call for expression of interest for one (1) Ph.D. student fellowship position "Higher-order statistics for neutral hydrogen intensity mapping" at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)
We look for one PhD student who will forecast the capability of such advanced higher-order statistics for HI intensity mapping, in the view of the upcoming SKA Observatory. They will apply these new statistical methods to simulated HI intensity mapping data for the first time. To this purpose, it will also be necessary to modify the existing techniques to account for the peculiarities of the HI intensity mapping signal, like its superb redshift resolution, opposite to its rather poor angular resolution (compared to optical surveys). Moreover, the telescope beam plays an important role, and it will have to be modelled accurately to extract the most of the information. All of this will be done with the most advanced techniques of machine learning and data analysis of cosmological maps. The goal is to forecast constraints on cosmological parameters as per the planned SKA Observatory HI intensity mapping survey, which will cover 5000 to 15,000 square degrees.

[ICS-2087] Call for expression of interest for one (1) Postdoctoral Researcher position in “Radio Weak Lensing” at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)
We seek one Postdoctoral Researcher who will explore the introduction of weak lensing-specific constraints in deep learning models that prevent galaxy shape distortions, extending paradigms from optical methodologies to the radio domain. The effort will focus on large-scale reconstruction algorithms able to optimize the measurement of shape parameters from SKA interferometry through the coupling of deep-learning-based image priors with geometric shape regularization. The post-doctoral researcher will be located at the premises of FORTH with a strong collaboration with the CosmoStat Laboratory at CEA Saclay.
