[ICS-2334] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position of an R&D Engineer
We seek one R&D Engineer member for our team. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project REBECCA. The project REBECCA, a heavily SME-driven project, will democratize the development of novel edge AI systems. Towards this aim, REBECCA will develop a purely European complete Hardware(HW) and Software(SW) stack around a RISC-V CPU, which will provide significantly higher levels of a) performance (e.g. inferences per second), b) energy/power efficiency (e.g. inferences per joule/watt), c) safety and d) security than the existing ones. This will be achieved by utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and by making significant scientific and technological advances in several key relevant domains, including a) processing units, b) hardware accelerators, c) reconfigurable hardware, d) tightly coupled interconnected chiplets e) HW/SW co-design and co-development tools, f) system software, g) middleware, and h) AI libraries and frameworks. REBECCA will significantly contribute to realizing business and societal opportunities by validating and demonstrating its approach on 4 real-world use cases and 2 benchmarks based on real-world applications from the Smart appliances, Energy Generation, Infrastructure Inspection, Avionics Automotive and Health domains.

[ICS-956] OPEN POSITION FOR CONTRACTUAL WORK
The Bioinformatics Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology, Hellas (FORTH) announces an opening for a Research / Technical Staff (Συνεργαζόμενου Ερευνητή) position for contractual work as part of the the funded research programme titled “Development of Interdisciplinary Research Activities towards System Biology (BIOSYS)”. The project is funded through the call for proposals “Ανταγωνιστικότητα και Επιχειρηματικότητα και Περιφερειών σε Μετάβαση” (ΕΣΠΑ 2007-2013) and specifically for the Greek national actions for «ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΙΑΚΕΣ ΠΡΟΤΑΣΕΙΣ ΕΡΕΥΝΗΤΙΚΩΝ ΦΟΡΕΩΝ- ΚΡΗΠΙΣ». The laboratory solicits applications to scientists and researchers that fulfill the requirements below to apply for the position.

[ICS-955] 1 position for early career researcher
The REtinal VAscular Modeling, Measurement And Diagnosis (REVAMMAD) project will train a new generation of scientists able to effectively translate the latest vascular modeling theory and computerized image analysis techniques into effective interventions for some of the most important chronic medic conditions afflicting the EU, including hypertension and diabetes. It will particularly ensure that there is rich clinical and industrial involvement to ensure that the training is focused with end-users and exploitation in mind. The vasculature undergoes changes in response to early stages of these diseases, reflecting fundamental physiological processes within the vessels. The retina provides a unique “window onto the vasculature”, allowing it to be viewed and measurements made in vivo, and advances in imaging technologies make it increasingly possible to measure subtle changes using computer vision algorithms, including through routine medical checks such as eye tests. The field is currently fragmented, with many excellent pockets of collaboration focused on defined specialisms, particularly between clinicians and modelers, or clinicians and measurement specialists, but lacking overall structure. Despite the importance and incidence of the diseases and the evidence for the possibility of better diagnosis through imaging, there has been relatively little translation of theory into clinical practice. Integrative action is required to train researchers who understand the medical, clinical, technological and commercial aspects of the problem domain and to establish common working methodologies and tools across the field. REVAMMAD will train early careers researchers who combine these skills in order to motivate the introduction of high impact interventions in the future.
